AR and VR Technologies In Graphic Designing

What do you expect from a world that has gone entirely digital? Isn't it strange to be in a world where earlier children used to play on the ground, they now play games like Pokémon Go and Playing Mario in the Real World, where people used to build houses through contractors, now designers take the help of interior designing from AI. Change is the law of nature, and a radical change in technology in a few years has changed the way humans think and work.

What technologies are majorly a part of this virtual change? This article will enlighten the readers about these technologies, their uses, and their impact on the real world.

AR and VR Technologies

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) bring together the real and virtual worlds. Augmented Reality imposes a virtual layer of digital elements over the real world, AR users can feel the real world while using AR technology, while Virtual Reality is difficult to differentiate between the virtual world and the real world, VR creates an entirely digital world around the VR user. AR can be experienced by using a smartphone or simply a tablet, but to experience VR, one needs to have a headset device. Examples of AR include Microsoft HoloLens Holograms and Snapchat lenses while VR can be experienced through PlayStation VR and Samsung Gear VR.

AR and VR technologies have brought a revolutionary change in the IT sector in past years, from the application in Graphic Design to Interior Design, these technologies are uplifting a Prepotent and Futuristic approach to work in an automated world.

Application Of AR Technologies

  • Gaming
World’s gaming industry is three times wider than the film industry, isn't it fantastic?
As per a PwC report, the gaming industry’s worth is expected to be $321 bn by 2026. Apart from the industry’s worth, Revenue in the Games segment is projected to reach US$396.20 Billion in 2023. What is it that makes gaming this much more interesting and economical as well?

Gaming is a completely immersive technology that provides an experience of the real and virtual world at the same time. Pokémon GO is one of the popular AR games, that allows you to capture the real environment and super-imposes computer-generated Pokémon over your screen, eventually allowing you to capture it. A few more examples of AR games are Minecraft Earth, Jurassic World Alive, and Temple Treasure Hunt.
  • Manufacturing
There are numerous applications of AR Technology in the manufacturing industry, from Remote Assistance to Design and Prototyping AR, which helps in finding every possible solution to the requirements of the Manufacturing industry.
Cisco Systems is one of the AR Devices developed with AR-enabled safety glasses, helping workers to get real-time intimation with safety notifications.

The hardware components of AR such as GPS, Optical Sensors, and RFID, and input devices like microphones, gesture devices, and pointers are also used for manufacturing. Microsoft HoloLens Holograms and Third Eye Gen are a few more AR technologies used in manufacturing.

"Apart from the applications of AR in manufacturing and gaming, AR is also applicable to other industries like Medical, Automobile, Education, Military, Television, Broadcast, and Retail."

Application Of VR Technologies
  • Entertainment

What comes to mind when you’re reminded of movies like Avatar, Avengers, Jurassic Park, or The Matrix? It's obvious that visual effects (VFX) and 3D visuals will be running through your mind…, but have you ever thought about what technology these movies are made of?

VR technology is most prominently used in the entertainment industry, VR is used to create an emotional connection with almost experiencing it in the real world, with an artificial three-dimensional environment using interactive devices such as goggles, headsets, gloves, or bodysuits.

Besides using VFX in movies, VR technology is also applicable in video games, galleries, theaters, and virtual museums.

  •    Healthcare Training

Virtual Reality is revolutionizing the healthcare industry, from initiating the training experience in medicine to watching operations from a distance, VR trainers are transforming new technologies through VR that could elevate the healthcare industry to the next level.

There are numerous areas of healthcare in which virtual reality is widely used:-

1. Foster Medical Trainers

2. VR Therapy

3. Treatment of Patients

4. Treatment of Phantom Limb Pain

5. Helping Autistic Children

6. Pain Management

7. VR Surgery Simulation

8. Real-Time Conferences

"Despite the fact that VR technologies are transforming the healthcare and entertainment industry, it is applicable in a variety of sectors like Architecture, Space, Military, Automotive,  Digital Marketing, and Occupational Security."

METAVERSE

AR and VR technologies have their own implications, pros, and cons, but is there any field, sector, or space where both of these technologies and MR can be experienced together?

Yes, Metaverse is a visually created space, where people can interact with each other along with digital objects through the internet but in a more immersive environment. Metaverse is for everyone including gamers and developers, users need to have different devices like phones or computers, or virtual reality headsets for a more immersive experience.

The most interesting fact about the metaverse is that it includes all digital areas like social media, augmented reality, virtual reality, online gaming, and cryptocurrencies. It is a virtual world containing digital elements creating an entirely automated environment.
